Butter Yellow Wedding Inspiration in Boulder

Recently, I had the pleasure of creating a butter yellow wedding inspiration with an incredibly talented photographer, Mary Ann Craddock Photography. Together, we created a romantic, garden-inspired tablescape nestled in the heart of Oceana’s Garden, a hidden gem in Boulder, Colorado that feels like stepping into a secret, blooming world.

The Setting: Whispers of Monet

Oceana’s Gardens provided the most enchanting backdrop we could have asked for. My first words to the photographer when I walked in were, “This looks like I stepped into Monet’s garden” - where art and nature blur into one. Fairytale-like bridges arched over peaceful, twirling streams, creating a dreamlike setting straight out of a painting.

Behind it all, a yellow house stood quietly, casting a warm glow over a scene that felt truly enchanted. The landscape exuded timeless, storybook charm, inviting you to wander slowly and soak in every detail. The gentle sound of flowing water from the fountain silences the outside world, grounding you in a deep sense of peace and presence.

Butter Yellow Wedding Inspired Blooms

We wanted the chic garden party tablescape to feel as though it had grown there, nestled into the cobblestone, as if it belonged among the vines, blooms, and dappled sunlight. Most of the stems in this design were sourced from local flower farms, grounding the aesthetic in seasonality. The color palette became our guiding light: pale, buttery yellows mixed with soft creams, gentle whites, and the faintest whisper of chartreuse and green, a hue we're seeing everywhere this year, which fit seamlessly into the soft, natural backdrop.

Our aim was to honor the last golden glow of summer, that in-between moment when the light lingers and everything feels touched by warmth. Overflowing with roses, lisianthus, scabiosa, ranunculus, white hydrangeas, and so many more blooms, each arrangement was designed to feel organic, unstructured, and full of life.

Styling the Table: Layers of Light and Fruit

The table itself was a dream to style. We paired the florals with sleek white taper candles that added a sense of romance, their flickering light catching the golden hour just perfectly. Everything was arranged to feel effortless including flowers spilling over the edge of vessels.

To add richness and texture, we layered in fruit including soft, sliced yellow lemons and light green grapes. Nestled among the blooms, the fruit helped create a tablescape that felt both grounded and otherworldly and they brought a sense of abundance and timeless beauty, like something out of a still life painting. Thoughtfully curated tableware, linens and seating from Event Rents brought a refined touch to the setting, while each place setting was adorned with a beautifully designed menu by Willow Court Calligraphy, each elegantly tied with a soft ribbon.

A Note on Design Philosophy

Floristry is more than arranging flowers. It’s about capturing emotion, telling stories, and creating moments that feel both personal and poetic. When paired with thoughtful styling, intentional design, and a little bit of whimsy, they become something more than decoration, they become memory.
